Basketball Player
-
Aug 2016 - Mar 2021
Being a Division 1 basketball player I balance a full course load along with daily athletic needs, while also spending time studying. I practice teamwork and communication skills on a daily basis. Having a strong set of these skills I was chosen to be a team captain my sophomore year and have been one each year after. By being apart of a collegiate team, I also have the opportunity to represent the University in volunteer events and interacting with the community. Umpire
-
Jun 2019 - Aug 2019
At the Cedar Valley Sports Complex I was the umpire for the youth summer softball and baseball league. I had the opportunity to umpire two- three games twice a week. My job was to umpire behind home plate and the bases where I had to call strikes, balls, and outs for each team. I learned the importance of listening and resolving conflicts that arose during games between players, coaches, or fans. Being in these types of situations I was able to communicate with older adults, younger children and coworkers about issues that may have arose in the midst of games. Show less
