      A temporary position participating in and overseeing the marking of a broad range of exam papers. After three successful contracts as a marker (2008-9), I was given the opportunity to progress to the supervisory role of monitor.My responsibilities included:- Sustaining rigorous attention to detail when marking papers at the required rate and checking the marking of others to maintain a high degree of accuracy.- Absorbing information quickly when acquainting myself with new, often-complex mark schemes prior to team-training.- Training markers to adhere to mark schemes with consistency to maintain a high degree of accuracy. - Responding promptly and patiently to markers’ queries on mark schemes, individual candidates or other aspects of the marking process.- Drawing on existing computer and analytical skills to enter and assess data in Excel spreadsheets pertaining to team productivity and accuracy on a daily basis.- Presenting information on team accuracy and efficiency clearly in hard copy, both on a daily basis and for the contract as a whole.- Offering both positive and negative feedback to markers in a supportive and constructive manner to improve team performance.- Conveying information about group and individual accuracy to team leaders throughout the working day.- Adapting quickly to a variety of delegated tasks.- Maintaining a constant level of positivity and encouragement in an often pressurized working environment.- Training new monitors to carry out the numerous responsibilities of the role.
