EDUCATION & OUTREACH: • Collaborated with IGI staff and volunteers, hired outside vendors, and forged educational partnerships to make CRISPR science and ethics accessible to the public through various creative strategies. • Built our suite of educational resources, events, and programs from the ground up, including these highlights: ➼ "Ask a Scientist" program Anyone can submit a question to our experts and receive a personal response. We've interacted with inquisitive people from over 20 countries! ➼ CRISPR-3D and Phage Invaders apps Available in Apple App Store and Google Play. Play around with CRISPR proteins in augmented reality or step into the role of CRISPR defender. ➼ VR experience exploring CRISPR and sickle cell disease Available for Oculus Rift in the 10k app, demoed with hundreds of people of all ages at Bay Area outreach events. ➼ Started IGI's annual community science day in the fall and run a CRISPR room at Cal Day each spring Thousands of visitors have met our scientists, dressed up in lab coats, toured our labs, and participated in fun STEAM activities. ➼ Developed CRISPR course and journal club for Cal undergraduates GENERAL INSTITUTE SUPPORT: • Mentored and supervised high school interns, college interns and volunteers, and IGI staff. • Planned and executed various IGI events, talks, workshops, and happy hours. • Supported development team in high-level fundraising activities, translating science into accessible oral, written, and visual formats. • Reviewed grant applications during several calls for proposals.
