Accounting Tutor

Jan 2013 - Jan 2015
I worked as an accounting tutor at George Fox University. I assisted students with all accounting classes, such as Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and Intermediate Accounting. My responsibilities included aiding students with homework, quizzes, and preparing for exams. This experience has allowed me to grasp a better understanding of accounting concepts and principles as I help students solve problems and teach different concepts. Intern
-
May 2014 - Aug 2014
I worked as as summer intern at AKT. Over that span of time, I worked in the tax department and worked on individual and corporate returns, 1065, 1120, 1120S, and 1040. I had the opportunity to work in several niches, Healthcare, Construction, and GSEM. In addition I worked with different associates and managers. Tax planning for individuals and corporations was another project I worked on, which entailed projecting the tax liability of a client for the upcoming tax year and helping the client assess if their withholdings were enough to safeguard them. I also did basis computations for many of the Healthcare clients. During my internship, I was exposed to many different aspects of tax and was able to further my knowledge and understanding of accounting concepts and principles. My internship provided me with valuable accounting experience in the workplace. Show less

Community Development Specialist
-
May 2013 - Aug 2013
I worked in the Community Development Department at Evanta. My responsibilities included making calls to potential clients to invite them to attend our events, searching for new clients ("data mining"), updating client information ("data scrubbing"), and helping Program Directors with special projects as needed. In August I was selected as the first intern to ever travel to an event and participate in the operations of the event. I went to the Milwaukee CIO & CISO Executive Summit. I worked as the lead registration team member. I was responsible for checking in over 200 guests and answering any questions along the way. It was a great opportunity to be able to experience an event first hand and make an impact in the registration portion of the event. Show less
