Medical Justice was founded by Dr. Jeffrey Segal, a neurosurgeon who saw how the entire profession was being sucked dry and torn apart at the seams by the greedy and unappreciative few. Those few (and their self-promoting attorneys) see physicians as a Las Vegas slot machine. They are constantly tugging at the arm of Medicine, putting in quarters in hopes of a jackpot. Even though less than 25% of all cases have any substance to them, any merit at all, the lawyers and their clients keep taking cheap shots at healers, hoping for that jack-pot payout. Medical Justice stands strong against them, providing their members with pro-active means to prevent damages.

When the healthcare reform discussions began, it was only reasonable that physicians and other healthcare workers would lead the way. Being in the trenches, per se, they would be the ones with the best first-hand knowledge of where wastes were occurring and what expenses could be safely cut. Oddly enough, the U.S. Congress did just the opposite. With no medical knowledge to speak of, they went about it from a budgetary and political perspective; refusing to give doctors and nurses a seat at the table. The result is that there is little confidence in the proposed reforms. For any health care reform to be meaningful and functional, it must include tort reforms to protect physicians from the myriad distractions and expenses brought on by the self-centered few who would abuse the right to sue for medical malpractice. It's our good fortune that there is an organization called Medical Justice.Amongst the concerns that membership in Medical Justice helps alleviate are online character defamations. If their Risk Management guidelines are followed, the physician has a tool in to remov derogatory comments from virtually all websites almost immediately! In fact, the methods of Medical Justice are so effective that only a small fraction of Medical Justice members ever face a lawsuit, compared with those who do not have this invaluable service on their side. The malpractice attorneys know that a Medical Justice member can and will fight back.
