Sam Jackson and I teach weekly classes, workshops, and private lessons in West Coast Swing. We work as leaders in the Victoria West Coast Swing community, supporting other dancers, classes, and events. We are coached by Myles Munroe and Tessa Cunningham Munroe, the Canadian Swing Champions, and are completing their Swing Literacy Development Method teacher training program. As a Classically trained dancer, I also occasionally teach ballet, jazz, contemporary, and First Dances for weddings. Show less

My MA research focuses on the coastal historical ecology and zooarchaeology of shellfish in Barkley Sound, BC, Indigenous governance, and marine resource management. I am looking at presumed to be rare shellfish taxa on the Northwest Coast, including gooseneck barnacles, turban snails, chitons, cockles, limpets, sea urchins, and abalone. I am interested in how these shellfish are represented in archaeological samples and ethnographic reports, specifically how the conventional collection and analysis methods may not be catching the whole picture. Additionally, I am interested in how the legal environment regarding Indigenous marine resource management and harvesting relates to shellfish. Show less
