I did my post-doc research on silicon quantum dot solar cells at Samukawa Lab, Institute of Fluid Science, Tohoku University, wherein I optimized the formation of Si-nanocrystals (Si-NCs) at >=800 °C in SiC interlayer with a thickness variation of Si (2~6 nm) with controllable band gap energy (1.61∼1.92 eV). The size-controlled 3D array of Si-NCs separated by SiC barriers was fabricated by neutral beam etching using a bio-template consisting of ferritin molecules.
