My PhD thesis is focused on automated analysis of human activities from unconstrained videos using deep learning. More specifically, I am working on real-time spatio-temporal detection of multiple and concurrent human activities in realistic videos (e.g., surveillance camera videos, web videos). The outcome of this research has the potential to drive a number of applications including autonomous driving, intelligent video surveillance, semantic video search, and retail analytics, to name a few. - Performed research and development of deep learning techniques for vegetation detection in UAV imagery for Railway monitoring. Results published in the 7th VEHITS conference. - Designed a data analytics project to estimate the energy consumption and predict the maintenance needs of TTC electric bus fleet using Machine Learning. Also, wrote the corresponding technical project proposal for funding considerations from Transport Canada. - Performed research and development of deep learning techniques for vegetation detection in UAV imagery for Railway monitoring. Conducted an independent, stand-alone research project that involved automatic filtering of inappropriate images for kids from social media platforms using deep learning. As part of this project, I designed and developed a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model that can automatically tag an image as "inappropriate" for kids (e.g.; images containing knife, gun, syringe, bikini etc.).
