  As a Community Outreach Specialist for the Louisville Metro Government, my role was to provide governmental assistance to low income and people experiencing homelessness in the Louisville Metro area, primarily the west end of Louisville. The west end of Louisville has had years of segregated history, food deserts, lack of section 8 housing and property damage due to being in a flood zone. I managed a team of 4 employees as we worked with clients to assist them in receiving government subsidies to ensure their light and heat was kept on specifically during the colder winter months. I also assisted individuals experiencing homelessness in setting up accounts with the power company to ensure they would have heat and electricity after receiving approval on their apartment applications. During the summer, I would work at a local food bank via the government program on Fridays and during the other 4 days of the week, I would work with flood victims to rebuild their homes.
