The project was called "New Naturaly Layered Perovskite Materials", under the supervision of João Pedro Araújo and Armandina Lopes. Novel materials were simulated by means of Density Functional Theory (DFT) and lattice dynamics for green energy applications. The project was called "Search for transiting planets in K2 light curves", under the supervision of Susana Barros and Olivier Demangeon. Optimization of a pre-existent Python implementation of the BLS (Box-fitting Least Squares) algorithm to select exoplanet candidates. This code was applied to the K2 campaign 18 of NASA’s Kepler satellite; several exoplanet candidates were selected by mass processing of the available data. The internship was called "Automation and Control of Spectroscopy Systems",under the super- vision of Pedro Jorge and Rui Martins. The internship was inserted in the "Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy" (LIBS) project. A Python Software was written from scratch to compare spectra acquired in laboratory with reference lines of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) database.
