Bio
Janssen Weeks
I have know and worked with Michael for nearly 5 years. I first met Michael working on a project for the Library of Congress, "Readers to the Rescue" (http://www.read.gov/readers/). I was so impressed by Michael's skill and work ethic, that I've invited him to work on many of my professional and personal projects since that time. Michael is hands down, one of the best composers I've worked with during my career. He is thoughtful, energetic, and artful in his craft. He is versatile and is able to create a wide range of musical genres. He takes feedback and criticism in the most professional manner. He genuinely wants to make sure that he delivers the best product on-time, on-budget, and on-target. He is reliable and communicates well. He asks the right questions at the right time. Michael gets it... and gets it quickly. Most importantly, Michael creates beautiful, meaningful musical works that add necessary support to film productions. It is for these reasons that I will continue to work with Michael for years to come.

I had the privilege of contracting Michael as the lead composer on a 20 minute documentary project. The film was focused on a unique culture with its own traditional music and rhythms. Michael dug in. He wasn't simply composing a score, he was capturing the emotions and intensity of a culture in peril. His work was intrinsically tied to the content of the film. It wasn't a battle between what he wanted as a composer and what I wanted as a filmmaker: it was a collaboration to craft the most dynamic and engaging end product. His music adapted and conformed to the constraints the film demanded. He was open to feedback and revisions and took criticism without pushback or complaints. I would work with Michael again and again.
