Community Fundraiser
-
Sep 2015 - Jul 2020
I worked as part of a team in the Supporter Lead Fundraising Team. I took a lead in two years of skydiving challenges and the growth of our Christmas Tree Re-cycling Event which grew from £5,000 to £36,500. I also organised quiz nights and street collections. As part of a team I supported individuals that took on a challenge to those hosting an afternoon tea. I worked alongside our volunteer supporter groups and supported them with their needs when required. I am happy working as an individual and enjoy working as part of a team. I am confident in speaking in public and thoroughly enjoy speaking to any group. I am a member of a local Toastmasters group following a Pathway Project.

I work as an individual but as part of a small team to ensure vital funds are raised to enable the care and support for the young adults across the county are met. I have engaged with community groups, supported our main fundraising events and also responsible for the organisation of Pedal for the J’s 2014. I have built an active team of ambassadors, organising training for volunteers enabling them to represent the charity with confidence at community events. I am a confident public speaker and enjoy speaking to groups and individuals of all ages and backgrounds. I use my experiences and transferable skills in a wide variety of circumstances and I am confident that I can apply these to any given situation.

Jan 2012 - Nov 2012
After an amazing experience raising money for Women V Cancer I volunteered as a Community Fundraiser for The Js Hospice. This enabled me to engage with the local community, raise awareness and vital funds for local people whilst working around my shifts with Essex Police.

Police Community Support Officer
-
Oct 2006 - Nov 2012
I worked as part of a wider team but very much as an individual, working with the community to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour. I worked to build bridges by engaging with all ages and groups living within our community both independently and as part of a team working to making Essex a safe place to live. I worked to prevent crime and disorder in Chelmsford. I engaged with the local community, working closely with outside agencies, organising events and support community based projects. I regularly spoke to groups of people speaking on crime prevention, internet safety plus crime and consequences to various audiences aged 5 to 85. I tutored new members of staff and continued to support them after initial training. I received awards for my work, namely ‘Employee of the month’ and for ‘Taking a lead in Improving Performance’ by going beyond the call of duty.

Mar 2010 - Nov 2011
I registered to take part in a 250 mile cycling challenge through part of the Rift Valley in Kenya with Women V Cancer raising funds for breast, cervical and ovarian cancers. I organised a number of events in my local community from Family Fun Day, Big Band Night, Pamper Day, Curry Night and a Christmas Fayre. The challenge was life changing! The Director of Action for Charity invited me to London to speak to a group of ladies planning to Cycle India. I was excited at the opportunity. I spoke to approximately 200 ladies to motivate and encourage fundraising and training for their adventure ahead. I was 'buzzing', I loved every moment of speaking in public.......my fundraising career had started.....
