I work as corporate and commercial attorney at Estrella, where we focus on building personalized solutions for our clients’ needs. More than just counsels, our mission is to work directly with clients to facilitate their success. My experience at Estrella has allowed me to leverage my business and litigation background to create customized solutions for clients, while foreseeing potential disputes. I have directly contributed to the expansion of our corporate and commercial practice, where I counsel clients in various areas including to: • Organize new businesses. • Facilitate and defend the protection of intellectual property for clients. • Provide the day-to-day negotiations and drafting of commercial agreements. • Negotiate and prepare corporate agreements for local and transnational mergers and acquisitions. • Amplify the financing opportunities while leveraging the local tax incentives for new businesses and investors. • Directly defend our clients in their commercial disputes. • Assist businesses navigating their data and privacy requirements when expanding to PR and the U.S. The impact of our practice’s growth has led for it to be recognized as an industry leader by Legal 500. Additionally, I also helped establish, and currently lead, the firm’s business immigration practice, where we directly assist businesses and investors wanting to expand their commercial opportunities in the U.S. Show less

    • Associate Attorney
      • Oct 2014 - Apr 2015

Upon graduating, I joined Guzmán & Rodríguez López as a litigation associate. The firm focus is mainly on civil litigation in both State and Federal Court. I was able to directly oversee a vast amount of tort, corporate, and contractual disputes, where I directly developed my litigation skill set in brief writing, document legal review, legal discovery, deposition taking, motion drafting, settlement negotiations, and trial skills. I was also able to directly handle arbitrations under the AAA commercial rules. The experience allowed me to learn the importance of adaptability in the constantly changing environment of a litigation attorney, and I walked away with new skills in project management, case handling, civil litigation, and client development. I was able to conduct my law school legal clinic requirements in the UPR Immigration Legal Clinic. The UPR Immigration Clinic is the only Pro Bono Immigration Clinic in Puerto Rico and provides legal representation to indigent immigrants in Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands. The clinic work helped me leverage my passion for immigration law to apply it directly to my immigration cases. I was able to carry an extensive workload that allowed me to provide legal representation and practice skills in motion drafting, legal research, legal brief preparations, and removal defense litigation. I personally participated first-chair in various individual hearings and worked on appellate documents before the Board of Immigration Appeals, where I successfully defended various immigrants and legalized their status to continue lawfully in the U.S. Additionally, I was able to successfully prepare and file family petitions and naturalization processes for clients before USCIS. My work consisted of content creation, content editing, drafting articles, and curating notes on the publication's topics. I also facilitated workshops regarding international law topics.
