Project: - Frequency swept acoustic interferometry (SFAI) for estimation of speed of sound (SOS) and phase fraction for multi-phase flow metering (MPFM) - Doppler frequency shift technique for multi-phase flow metering (MPFM) The project is targeted to development of nondestructive and nonintrusive metering system for accurate estimate of phase fractions in multiphase flow (specifically of natural oil, water and gas) through recovery of speed of sound using ultrasound techniques. Project: Photoacoustic Imaging (Microscopy and Tomography) for - Estimating elastic property of soft biological tissue for diagnosis of brain tumor non-invasively and non-destructively - Estimating both magnitude and direction of velocity of blood flow for diagnosis of stroke non-invasively and non-destructively This project focuses on design and development/instrumentation of imaging system, based on Photoacoustic effect. In this project, we study to develop both theoretical model and experimental techniques, using the developed imaging, for recovery of elastic property of biological tissue and blood flow velocity (noninvasively and nondestructively). The imaging system is targeted for biomedical applications specifically for diagnosis and therapeutic treatments of brain tumor and stroke noninvasively and nondestructively. Show less

Project: Numerical based dual modality imaging of Photo-acoustic tomography (PAT) and Ultrasound (US): A promising technique for imaging physiological parameters and morphological structure of biological tissues non-destructively and non-invasively In this project, we focus on studying and development of reconstruction techniques that would improve the spatial resolution and contrast of the Photo-acoustic reconstructed images, and the recovery of optical and thermal properties (absorption coefficient) through PAT imaging technique and morphological structural information from the conventional ultrasound imaging technique.
