  A classroom teacher with 18 years of experience teaching dual-age fourth and fifth-grade classes, including co-teaching ICT classes. While explicit instruction of academic skills in all subjects is crucial, I prioritize the cultivation of a strong classroom community that allows each individual to feel truly seen and known by their peers and adults. Mindfulness, vulnerability, and a large dose of humor make this possible. The development of a strong classroom culture - valuing honesty, risk-taking, and collaboration in learning and problem-solving - allows students to accomplish things they had previously not thought themselves capable of doing while being their full, authentic selves.
