      The job entails: - Leading the design and implementation of policy research in the main areas of regional cooperation and integration with a focus on poverty reduction and sustainable development, in line with the main priority intervention areas defined in SADC’s Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP); - Lead in routine poverty mapping exercises and provide baseline for regular monitoring of poverty and economic development in the SADC Member States; - Coordinating with public and private research institutions, think tanks, universities, within and outside the region on poverty and development; - Developing partnerships with state and non-state stakeholders to ensure the implementation of the SADC Regional Poverty Reduction Framework; - Initiating and developing policy papers and briefs on the poverty reduction dimensions of regional integration activities. It also demands liaising with other regional groupings in the African continent and elsewhere to identify better policy research approaches for poverty and development at regional level; - Organising preparatory multi‐stakeholder brainstorming and consultative convenings to strengthen harmonization and institutionalization of the SADC Secretariat’s stakeholder engagement functions, and organizing and coordinating further research and information exchanges between the SADC Secretariat, civil society groups and other non‐state actors on the implementation of the Summit decisions on poverty and development; - Coordinating the strengthening of the SADC Regional-National linkages; - Coordinating the work of the SADC Platform for the National Planning Entities to assist in the effective implementation of the SADC Revised RISDP 2015-2020 and its Implementation Framework, as well as the Industrialisation Strategy and the Roadmap, among other SADC policies.
