Title: Prediction model of ground movement. (Project SISCA) - Valuation by a scientific article of rank A. The goal of the project SISCA is to refine our understanding of these landslides and to develop a monitoring system able to detect events such as “mudslides”. Modeling the kinematic evolution of a landslide (velocity) is a suitable method for understanding phenomena associated with mudslides (Bernardie et al, 2011). This method lies in a functional relationship between triggers (rain, snow, a deep source) and velocities. Three models are used. This study showed that all of the three models reproduce the evolution of observed velocities of the landslide with a great accuracy in the case of a “normal” movement (except mudslides). At the end, the maximum delay (in days) of detection is 19 days before the occurrence of a mudslide. It results from this study a better understanding of phenomena responsible of the landslide and the ability to detect events like “mudslides”. A pattern of automation is then created to establish an early warning system. Show less
