  I worked on a state field program to defeat Question 2 on the 2016 November ballot to keep the MA's cap on charter schools. As a part of this effort, I recruited 150 + volunteers to participate in canvassing and phone banking programs. Additionally, I lobbied 4 School Committees and 2 City Councils to pass resolutions in support of the No On 2 effort. I also collaborated with the MTA, BTU, AFT, and NAACP to engage community support as a part of the Massachusetts Education Justice Alliance (MEJA) and the Boston Education Justice Alliance (BEJA).   I work on a team of four co-coordinators and collaborate with the Brandeis University dining provider to distribute 20 pounds of food per week to the Community Day Center of Waltham, a day shelter for those who experience homelessness and food insecurity. As a part of our programming, I coordinate a volunteer case management program at the Day Center, requiring that I interview and train student volunteers to refer the guests of the shelter to local resources such as public housing and health care providers. In addition, I organize community-wide food and clothing drives each semester to benefit Boston’s Health Care for the Homeless Program, Cradles to Crayons, and the Community Day Center of Waltham.   As an intern for Tom Stanley's Campaign for Mayor, I processed canvassing data into Votebuilder and helped identify likely supporters and volunteers. During GOTV weekend I helped to recruit approximately 2000 supporters and on election day, I learned how to use turnout data from polling locations to project electoral outcomes using Votebuilder and Excel.   As a legislative intern I helped campaign to pass Bill H.529, state legislation increasing funding for the Massachusetts Emergency Assistance Program (EAEDC) through engaging organizations that address homelessness and elderly affairs and partnering to collect testimony and postcards addressed to legislators advocating for the bill. In addition, I created a database of organizations in Massachusetts that address homelessness and at-risk populations that will be helpful for this campaign as well as for ones in the future. I also helped to solicit votes with 11 other volunteers as a part of a successful campaign to raise $50,000 in one evening for the Bed for Every Child program. Show less
