3-month intensive course based around learning skills in data science in Python, including machine learning in Scikit-Learn, stats, and NLP.Capstone Project: For my capstone project, I decided to try and build a climbing route recommender. In the climbing community currently, most route recommendations are done by word of mouth, and I was interested in seeing if there was a way of building a machine learning approach. The model works by scraping the comments about climbing routes off a popular climbing website, and through NLP it builds clusters which classify the type of climbs. Then, using cosine similarities between users, it recommends new climbs. This worked fairly well, with clustering being found with similar climbs; however, there were a large number of “unclusterable” climbs, so more work is being done on the clustering algorithm.

I began working on the shop floor, aiding customers and selling bikes, and over time honed my skills as a mechanic and was responsible for carrying out complicated services on customer’s bikes to a high standard.I introduced a new online booking system to replace their old style of handwriting services in a calendar, and reported back to the manufacturer as the system was still in beta.
