I'm writing this recommendation for an outstanding young engineer. Max worked for me during the early days of RxWiki's technology expansion. He was very successful in launching our mobile -as-a-Service platform, and the patent-pending transaction processing environment. Max is a winner!

I worked on board the sailing vessel Robert C. Seamans, sailing across the Pacific Ocean. As Chief Engineer, I oversaw all of the mechanical and life support systems on the boat. I was responsible for maintaining and improving the systems, which included fresh- and waste-water handling, the primary engine and generators, and electrical system. I was also in charge of working with students and new crew members to teach them about the systems on board the ship. During maintenance periods for the vessel, I managed a staff of 4-6 engineers, overseeing and coordinating their projects. In addition to innumerable practical engineering skills, working on the boat taught me a lot about working in a very small, completely self-reliant group. Show less

I worked in the science branch of Sky Research (now White River Technologies), helping to develop and test new and novel sensing equipment. I conducted state of the art research, wrote programs to collect, process, and display sensor data, and conducted characterization testing. Additionally, I helped fabricate a variety of custom sensor platforms. I worked as a leader and guide, taking groups of around a dozen high school age participants on 21 day backpacking and sea kayaking trips through the Alaskan backcountry. During the trip, I was responsible for teaching them good leadership skills and proper camping practices.
