• Aided in field sampling operations by gathering biometric data, collecting blood and tissue samples, and attached tags to Thresher sharks, Mako sharks, and Yellowtail on various research cruises • Processed and analyzed catch composition, diets, migration, and reproductive states for various fish species including Tuna’s, Yellowtail, Swordfish, Lancetfish, and King of Salmon. Stomach contents of fish were analyzed by running contents over different sized sieves. Vertebrate prey species were identified using anatomical characteristics, otoliths, and vertebrae. Invertebrate prey species were identified using anatomical characteristics and beak anatomy. • Identified prey species using reference guides and cataloged species to the lowest possible taxon. • Aided in developing an ecosystem-based approach to sustainably manage and monitor highly migratory species. • Maintained accurate and organized datasheets in Microsoft Excel. • Cleaned pelagic tuna tank thoroughly to insure a clean environment for experiments to be conducted in. • Keep accurate log of food type, weight, time of feeding, and overall food consumption with excel for all sharks and tunas to insure that the fish were healthy for experimentation. • Fed all Sandbar, Hammerhead, and Black Tip Sharks as well as Yellowfin tunas. • Observed and noted any irregular behavior and unusual physical appearance of sharks/tunas. • Responsible for a clean work environment.
