There is nothing like the rush of being a crucial member at the core of our hospital. Being ICU Lead Supervisor, responsibilities include: hiring and training the future nurses of Veterinary Medicine, employee payroll, scheduling, department inventory and ordering of supplies. Providing excellent care for patients that are admitted to this department in preparation for MRI/CT, surgery, post-anesthetic/surgical recovery and maintenance is an essential part of this daily role. My position also entails writing standard operating procedures and protocols for ICU; as well as establishing client relationships and educational communication about their pets' care when patients are discharged home and reunited with their "pawrents". Not only am I responsible for obtaining blood samples for in-house/send out blood work, taking radiographs and placing IV or urinary catheters but, along with my team members, we are a critical part in patient recovery especially for post-surgical cases.
