Kognia has developed an artificial intelligence software unique in the market that allows tactical analysis of the game automatically and in real time.It is an innovative product created for professional football clubs, leagues, federations or even sports media companies.Managers such as Unai Emery, Xavi Hernández, and Paulo Sousa have already used this advanced technology to analyze the performance of their teams. The product is structured around three main blocks:1-. Automated video production of the game and training sessions.2-. Tactical analysis that automatically detects the situations during the game by the two teams, generating cuts of video clips with the graphic representation of these tactics.3-. The manual tagging tool, which allows video analyst users to generate cuts and additional video clips of specific situations that complement the automatic analysis of the game.No other previous method has managed to meet these parameters that avoid manual processing while gaining objectivity when analyzing the game. And all in real time so the user can make immediate decisions in the live game, beyond speeding up the analysis in the preparation of the matches, at halftime or at the end of the game.

As Head of research at the Methodology Department at FCB we aimed at developing the right theoretical framework and adequate models to quantify the game throughout the qualitative aspects that characterize Barça’s model. Together with Paco Seirul.lo and Joan Vila, our goal was to go beyond the immediate benefits of sports analytics and develop deeper insights of the principles underlying players’ tactical behaviors. Furthermore, my activties at FCB also involved disseminating our work at numerous conferences and events as well as keeping research alliances with top Universities and research centers around the globe.
