I write a monthly column for this women in entertainment focused website entitled "Dame in the Game." Dame in the Game selects a different woman from classic Hollywood each month who made groundbreaking contributions to the industry (or the world more broadly). At a time where sexism in Hollywood is a hot-button topic, it's important to remember the women who paved the way in the entertainment industry. This column seeks to do just that. In conjunction with Slanderous Tongues Theatre, a classical theatre organization on the USC campus that is entirely student-run, I co-directed a production of Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest." As it was an independent student production, the responsibilities of the director were largely expanded to those of a producer, as we oversaw many other components of the show, and I also acted as a costumer. I primarily carried out the duties of a receptionist: greeting and directing all visitors to the department, answering phones, making copies, scanning and filing office documents, assisting faculty and staff with requests, etc. I also worked with faculty each semester to design course fliers in both Photoshop and Powerpoint that could be used to advertise the classes they would be teaching the coming semester.
