      I work on project (kind of part-time job) that is aimed at digitization of old negatives from observatories all over the world. The image after digitalization by DSLR camera has geometric distortion called pincushion. I use the OpenCV library (c++) to remove this distortion. After the correction these images can be used for astrometry, for example for stellar detection. In such a way we can observe the night sky in the history and find something interesting. The observatories archives contain a huge amount of these negatives or glass plates, that gave us a chance for observing in our past. Show less
