I loved this job. I can’t describe how badly I wanted my students to succeed. I had taken the class at their remedial level and I remember struggling, too. They are my heroes. I learned a lot about how to simplify communicating complex and daunting things to people. I’m so grateful I got to share something I truly love (math) with other people. I loved this job. This was a weird job for a weirdly long time. I was very motivated to help our customers, and I learned how to be handier as a result. I also learned a lot about customer service, customer development, and servant leadership. It was a bumpy ride of failure and success during a bad time to not have much money or education. I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything. I remain vested in HD business as an ESPP holder, committed to enhancing labor equity. This was a weird job for a weirdly long time.
