I had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects throughout the San Francisco Bay area with an emphasis on riparian and wetland restoration and mitigation projects. Regular tasks included reviewing habitat conceptual designs, conducting soil assessments and contaminant screening, hydrologic and geomorphic monitoring, and vegetation sampling in support of restoration and mitigation projects. While working there, I became a Registered Consulting Arborist with an emphasis on urban forestry as well as an FAA-certified commercial drone pilot.

I contributed to several projects as a Research Assistant. In West Virginia, I collected data on headwater channels and perennial flow distributions with precision GPS. In Ohio, I assisted graduate students with a repeat surveying effort to examine the effects of low-head dam removal in urban rivers. In Arizona, I provided GIS and remote-sensing analyses for an investigation of flow permanence in the Huachuca mountains.

I investigated the geomorphology of headwater streams which have been impacted by coal surface mining activities. Specifically, I examined the linkages between land reclamation practices and stream network functionality.

I've participated in a variety of animal surveys, collected geomorphic data and designed several field studies and restoration projects using GIS. Completed a hydrologic assessment for our San Pedro River properties in an effort to restore floodplain connectivity. I've also worked on native/invasive plant species distributions using remote sensing.
