The PHD project aim contributing the research about the controlling factors on depositional architecture of carbonate systems. Examples of tropical carbonate platforms of the Late Jurassic are useful for studying the interaction between carbonate geometry, facies and controlling factors. The research regards in particular the Upper Jurassic to Berrasian succession of Eastern Sardinia (Orosei gulf). The work is expected to achieve a detailed characterization of the carbonate system and to unravel possible causes of the changes in its architecture and composition, both from local and global factors. Methods: 60 days of fieldwork, stratigraphic logs, petrographic analyses of thin sections, cathodoluminescence, oxygen and stable isotopes analyses. Show less
