  CWC decided to start wireless demo activities from scratch in late 2007 and Matti was chosen to build the group for the task. The other major task in the position was to steer the group to the right direction and set the goals for the group. Cognitive radio networking was chosen by Matti for the main target. Some achievements of the group include world's first telephone call over cognitive radio network in January 2010 and demo contest prizes in Mobicomm 2009 and Mobicomm 2010. Matti was also responsible for high-level CNR demonstration plans and software architecture including implementing Linux on WARPs PowerPC living in FPGA, enabling the usage of readily available routing protocols etc. Show less

  Matti was responsible for security & defence (S&D) related research in Centre for Wireless Communications, University of Oulu. During his time in the position the S&D research in CWC was transformed from national projects to European multi-national and multi-company research. The S&D research group became a desired partner in EDA projects.
