Matthijs is very keen on his technology. He wants to know the technology he is working with inside out, just for the sake of writing better and more efficient code. I really enjoy working with him when we are architecting a system, as we keep bouncing from idea to idea until we have a very solid system. Matthijs does keep track of the priority of projects however, if there is simply no time to fully discover a framework, he manages to still deliver an awesome product. While Matthijs calls himself a software developer, he rather is a hybrid of a software developer and a designer. He is very strong in both fields, as his interfaces have to have the highest user experience possible, while maintaining a very good look. This does not mean he is not a team player however, quite the contrary actually, as he is very open to discussion as it often helps the project.

Software development internship. Here I developed an algorithm for parsing xml files efficiently. This was a long term solution for the ever increasing size of mass spectrometry data.
