Despite diverse topics, my dual pedagogical focus has been on the digital humanities and experiential education, especially in an outdoor setting. In all settings, my greatest satisfaction is in teaching students to do things they never imagined they would be capable of, whether that means coding, navigating river rapids, or hiking Himalayan trails. I run a variety of computer education projects centred on computer recycling and Free Software. Among other things, I build computers from salvage with primary school kids and tenants of social housing, build computer centres for the same, teach basic computer skills to very low-income people from diverse backgrounds, and teach programming (mostly using Scratch or its derivatives) to kids.
