I know Matt through my service with him on the board of directors of 10 Thousand Windows, a not for profit organization which he founded and led as CEO for many years. Matt was responsible for setting and executing against a vision for a non-profit organization that was uniquely market focused and metric driven. He brought business acumen and analytical rigor to a non-profit environment in a way that worked. Perhaps more importantly he is a great hirer and builder of high functioning teams that are still in place. He's also quite comfortable working from a blank slate, as is often required in non-profit and start-up environments. Strong Character. High integrity. Matt gets it done!

I had the privilege of serving on 10ThousandWindows' (10KW) board when Matt was CEO of the organization. A key reason I joined the board is the way Matt used data to measure and communicate 10KW's success. I could clearly see how it was making progress toward its ultimate goal of helping 10,000 survivors of trafficking gain safe and sustainable employment through its job training and education programs. Matt also led the planning and expansion of the young organization, and it recently opened a new center in a second city, Manila. He is excellent at recruiting leaders and has trained the field teams to be self driven. Matt has a strong work ethic and even moved to the field for a season when he felt it was needed to take the organization to the next step. Matt has high integrity and gives and receives direct and helpful feedback well. I know he will find great success in bringing his gifts and diverse experience to his future endeavors.

I negotiate 7-figure deals and execute due diligence for a $30M giving fund. I also perform the final review of EIG’s expert nonprofit evaluations. The evaluations are used to advise dozens of clients who collectively gave away $89M in 2020.

I wrote 160 nonprofit performance/organizational health evaluations used to inform philanthropists that gave away $63M in 2019. I also conducted deep-dive analysis on behalf of donors interested in making the nonprofits they support better. The reports include practical steps to improve strategy, governance, fundraising, impact, and financial management.

I came in to lead finance, operations, and HR. I ended up leading a new fundraising initiative, developing a theory of change, and designing the organization's first program evaluation process. I was asked by the board to serve as Interim CEO within 8 months of on-boarding. I came in to lead finance, operations, and HR. I cofounded 10KW to provide options for impoverished trafficking victims in the Philippines. Because of our work, hundreds of trafficking survivors have earned and sustained safe employment for the first time. As a result, only up to about 12% of our clients return to sex work compared to up to about 46% of their peers (2014 partner data). Because income grew steadily at around 20% annually during my time leading the organization, we went from serving 75 clients in 1 city in year 1 to serving 361 clients in 2 cities in my final year as CEO. When I decided to resign, I was asked to help select my replacement and join the board of directors.

I worked on a Gates Foundation funded project that reduced the availability of minors for sex in Cebu City by 79%. My colleagues and I designed and piloted a job skills training program to reduce trafficking survivor re-victimization. It showed promise, so we pitched a business plan I wrote to spin it off. That earned us the first $300K we needed to start 10ThousandWindows. I worked on a Gates Foundation funded project that reduced the availability of minors for sex in Cebu City by 79%.
