Matt has lots of energy and bursts with ideas. He is very creative and has a positive disposition. He worked for us as an animator on a variety of projects over the past few years and it was always a pleasure to work with him.

Ray Rafiq

For someone who is exceptionally talented, Matthew is very down-to-earth and hard-working. More importantly, he very quickly 'gets' what needs to be done and starts work immediately. I found his capacity to produce large volumes of high quality work very impressive. Matthew is a Film Director by trade, and you can see why. His eye for detail is good, but his in-depth understanding of every aspect of how something is put together gives whoever he works with an incredible advantage. With the Regent Street Cinema, we managed to get commitment of £1.5m purely on the strength of Matthew's work which allowed partners and investors to have strong visual imagery to convey the romance of the project. I wouldn't just work with Matthew again, I look for excuses to get his involvement.

I was also responsible for budgeting productions, and delivering final products and experiences for our clients. We produced several experiences for CES Shanghai in 2018, as well as for the launch of Byton’s M-Byte electric vehicle, designing new operating systems for shared in-car smart screens and realising the capabilities of what was then a concept vehicle. We also financed several film projects in various stages of development. Working across both the creative and production side of the business was both a great administrative challenge but also a personal challenge that I enjoyed. As the business grew so did my role, I was on the leadership team and led the creation of some of their standout features like Go Back in Time and Curve Rewards. My day-to-day at Curve included working across Product and Marketing to create all screens for App development, working directly with developers and product managers to deliver and ideate features and plans. I also created all advertising and video content and physical product development for the cards and packaging. I managed, worked with, and hired external agencies and partners to deliver on our goals, be it sourcing metal cards in South Korea or web development in Mauritius! I worked closely with the CEO building pitch and presentation decks, telling the story of Curve and helping shape the future of the business. Curve currently has over 4 million users across Europe and the US. It currently has almost 500 employees. Curve has won numerous awards, and has been App of the Day on the App store, and has been featured in articles by the New York Times, Wired, Forbes, TechCrunch, and the WallStreet Journal. Curve is a FinTech company in London, that is on a mission to simplify the way people spend, send, see and save money. Their product brings your entire wallet into a single card and app with some amazing features like flexible credit, the ability to move transactions from one card to another (Go back in TimeTM) and great FX and cashback rewards. I wrote and illustrated the Dementia Diaries and associated learning resources. The project was created in partnership with the NHS and KCC in the UK. This book follows four young people dealing with dementia in their grandparents. We follow their diaries as they hear of the diagnosis, all the way through to the end. It looks at dementia from the perspective of a young person, and as such is full of hope and fun and deep understanding. Adapted from interviews with young carers across Kent, the Dementia Diaries’ end goal, is to raise awareness of dementia among young people in a way that’s fun, shareable and life-affirming. And I am exceedingly proud of it. Look for it in your local library, school or hospital, and on bookshelves worldwide, published through Hachette/Jessica Kingsley Publishing.
