vEcotourism combines storytelling with immersive technology to give conservation organisation new ways to communicate complex issues. My role involved researching, planning and building projects, as well as coordinating contributions from team members and liaising with funders and partner organisations. Example projects: vEcoTours VR - Using Unity3D to design a virtual tour framework to publish to a variety of virtual reality headsets (Cardboard, Daydream, Oculus Go, Oculus Quest and Pico G2 as well as handheld mobile versions for iOS and Android). The framework is designed to build virtual tours using enhanced 360° photography and video, with embedded media and a voice over from expert guides. Technologies: Unity3D, C#, Apache, XML, Linux, Git vEcoLive - A web application delivering live virtual tour events. vEcoLive enables a tour operator to broadcast a phone conversation with a tour guide who is in a remote location. The operator can display media embedded in 360° photographs to viewers, and include viewers in the conversation using a text chat window, or patching them into the phone call. Technologies: HTML5, Websockets, Javascript, Node.js, MySQL, XML, PHP, Asterisk, IceCast, Apache, HAProxy, Linux, Krpano, Git vEcoTours - Using Krpano to create virtual tours viewable in a web browser. The app featured virtual tours using enhanced 360° photography and video, with embedded media and an informative voiceover. Technologies: Krpano, HTML5, JS, Apache, Linux, Git Show less

Linked to the United Nations, IMMAP uses Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to map minefields and other security risks to help aid agencies operate in war zones. My work involved inputting data about security events in Iraq so it could be utilised in GIS software.
