The Construction Industry Council (CIC) of Westchester & Hudson Valley is a professional trade organization representing over 600 businesses central to the regional construction industry. Projects include ‘horizontal building’ initiatives such as highways, bridges, tunnels, and airports. I mediate massive and complex contracting agreements among Westchester/Hudson Valley construction unions and 350+ contractor members. I coordinate disputes between the contractor and Union to drive progress and keep projects moving forward, resulting in tens of thousands of regional jobs. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: • I oversee millions in annual funding from union collective bargaining agreements. • To accelerate critical projects, I forge a strong coalition with first responders and businesses to generate public interest in critical projects. • Among these projects is the massive Tappan Zee Bridge construction, which CIC helped secure $3.5 billion in funding. • I also generated public interest in converting RT-17 into I-86 in Orange County that received $1 billion in funding in the NY State budget. If CIC focuses on ‘horizontal’ construction, then the BCA handles the ‘vertical’ projects, including buildings, malls, and multi-family housing complexes. The other side of my responsibility entails overseeing 10 collective bargaining agreements with local unions, government lobbyists, and association members. I review agreements and manage contract negotiations, public relations, collective agreements, and media outreach. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: • Facilitated union contractor awards on $1.8B Regeneron expansion aimed at adding 1,000 new jobs over 5 years. • Drove project labor agreement adoption to facilitate member being awarded $500 million Legoland project. • This marked the first new outdoor theme park in NY in decades and the third Legoland nationwide.
