Bio
Darria Dennison
I first met Matt when I was a student in one of his film classes, and from the very start, Matt always works to understand his students and to share his knowledge and network of connections freely. He constantly supplies his students with opportunities for them to grow and find their own voices, and challenges them where they need it most. He has been a mentor of mine for a few years now, and also having worked on independent projects with him, I have been able to learn from his experience in film in many areas: cinematography, editing, directing, and production and post production sound. Matt has connected many students to working professionals in the film industry, as he has facilitated many guest speaker events and Q&As over the past year. Giving almost endlessly of his time and energy, I cannot recommend Matt more, both as a filmmaker and as a professor.
John Burns
Matt is one of the kindest and most genuine persons I know. I have seen him go to extraordinary lengths to see his students and friends succeed, both in and out of the classroom. He is a person who lives according to his convictions and truly cares for others. Having taken several classes with him and worked on multiple projects under his supervision, I can say with confidence that he is an extremely talented and proven filmmaker and leader.
