I trained under the 1st Engineer and Chief Engineer on general maintenance and repairs of each vessel’s diesel plant and auxiliary systems. A few examples of working on machinery include the overhaul of a ship’s service generator, replacement of fuel pumps, and cleaning purifiers. Additionally, I was tasked with various welding projects which included, but are not limited to, constructing new brackets for pumps, designing and welding a gasket cutting table, and welding new stands for deck lighting.
