The focus of my role was SEA (Strategic Environmental Assessment) and providing environmental and planning advice into the early phases of water sector projects and frameworks. I worked within a small team of advisors who worked collaboratively across our specialist services in a technical advisory/ project management capacity. My role had input through all stages from bid to final delivery and across the disciplines of planning, environment, and geospatial. I led the day-to-day delivery for the SEA of the newly required DWMPs (Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans). These are strategic plans to improve drainage and wastewater across regional water companies, finally placing an equal emphasis on this topic to pre-existing Drought Plans and WRMP (Water Resource Management Plans). It was great to work with our clients in a collegiate way to make the most positive difference to the receiving environment, customers, and the communities that use the rivers and coastal areas every day. Stantec is a market leader in the water sector and was named the fifth most sustainable company in the world (first in North America)*, and was the tenth largest global design company by revenue in 2021**

As a Practitioner of IEMA, I specialised in the management of complex environmental and planning projects. My role consisted of project management, EIA chapter writing, GIS analysis, planning applications, client interaction and bids. I also undertook SEA, ESIA, and other standalone documents like construction plans within a mixed environmental assessment and town planning team. I worked across several sectors (transport, power, and residential predominantly) internationally. I gained ten months of secondment experience for a global rail project built upon an initial two-month contract and was seconded for several months at principal grade to a renewable's consents team. I worked for a mix of council and private clients including property developers and international investment banks. I have always pushed for increased digitalisation and integrating WebGIS into projects from my MSc background in GIS. I was the advertised deputy for our national team's GIS capability and assisting with troubleshooting within our business line.
