    • E & I Design Engineer
      • May 2012 - May 2013

As an E & I designer I am responsible for creating and modifying all the Block Diagrams, Cable Routing Diagrams, Electrical & Instrument Loops, Process Hook Up Diagrams, Termination Drawings etc for both construct and destruct scopes. The software I use to first create these diagrams is the Aveva Instrumentation package, this includes programs such like Instrument Wiring Manager, Instrument Engineer and Instrument Designer. The Aveva software generates a CAD file which I then export into a Microstation file and edit the drawing with this package.

My role as a Project Design and Commissioning Engineer for Swinton Technology involves a wider range of skills. We design and implement metering systems for the oil and gas industry, as a project engineer I am able to write and check technical documents, design and specify metering panels and also oversee our manufacturer who makes them. I am able to produce Auto CAD electrical drawings and also to check drawings for errors supplied from our panel manufactures. I can produce P&ID drawings and cable schedules. I am a licensed practitioner in creating configurations for both Emerson S600’s, S600+’s, and also Spirit IT’s Flow X flow computers and can undertake vigorous testing to ensure that the finial configuration is working correctly and it matches what is stated in the FDS (Function Design Specification). I can also configure Swinton Technology’s MSC (Metering Supervisory Computer) system called TruST – Prestige, this is very similar to a plants DCS system however it is only an overview for the metering systems on site.

My role as an Instrument Technician was to look after all the plant instrumentation equipment. This would involve routine calibrations and checks as well as planned maintenance and also breakdown maintenance where I would have to assess the situation and come up with a solution quickly and implement it efficiently in order to minimise downtime on the plant.
