-Prepared tax provision calculations for the company's international oil & gas operations including: Canada, USA, UK, and Colombia. These calculations were used internally by executive management for budget and planning purposes and externally for financial statement purposes. The figures were material in nature as the company paid over one billion dollars in tax a year. -Identified and created efficiencies in the preparation of the tax provision calculations by using excel proficiencies. This helped reduce preparation time and the occurrence of errors which helped our group meet internal and external reporting deadlines. -Prepared tax notes for the company's Financial Statements which ensured that the organization was compliant under International Financial Reporting Standards so that the company could continue to be listed on the NYSE and TSX. -Contributed to the organizations overall bottom-line through tax savings by correctly applying knowledge of tax law while preparing Corporate & Partnership tax returns for the organizations Canadian entities. -Sarbanes–Oxley Act (SOX) advisor for corporate tax. Responsible for making sure the tax division was following proper financial controls and that they were SOX compliant. This was important because if the company was not SOX compliant, the Security Exchange Commission (SEC) could fine the company and delist their stock from the NYSE. -Coordinated with internal and external auditors. Internal audit commented that the tax department had the best SOX process in the organization. Received special recognition from our internal auditors for being well organized, knowledgeable, and efficient with everyone's time that was involved in the audit. Show less
