Project Management Intern

Worked as part of the Crew Information Systems team on the Standby Flight Instrument (SFI) Programme. I undertook obsolescence management for the product line, which entailed reviewing component demand and supply, assessing stock and usage levels and evaluating any obsolescence notifications. The result was an improved obsolescence management plan which lead to the avoidance of line stops and issues. I was invited to Germany on a customer visit to present my work on obsolescence as part of a pitch to upgrade the customer’s fleet to the newest version of the SFI. I helped to lead a software modification for two customers on the GenISIS SFI. This involved leading weekly calls with the customer where schedule updates were provided, coupled with weekly internal meetings and following up on any areas of concern within the project. This led to the project being completed on-time and to budget. I have been present on customer visits from Airbus, Embraer, Lockheed Martin and ESG, including a week-long visit with Embraer for which I received an Impact Award for my efforts and contributions. I received a further Impact Award for providing a clear and concise overview of the obsolescence process to the Head of Engineering from Lockheed Martin. Show less

Completed a project developing a fast design method for the determination of the initial stiffening time of gypsum plaster. Alongside this project, I also provided support to the process improvement team in a variety of aspects, such as presenting mine purity data from the previous 18 months. Working alongside the Technical Manager, I was tasked with creating new work order sheets for the company and compiling a complete inventory of stock and inputting it onto a computer programme called Kingfisher. I produced three presentations for the Quality Manager, according to the specified standards for production, technical and director’s management. I assisted the Goods Inspector when inspecting raw materials imported to the factory. This involved identifying any defects and measuring both the outside diameter and wall thickness of all tubes to check for eccentric ovality. This was a crucial job as if a cable was processed and had a defect, it would cause drastic differences to the final product. I completed HV testing of cables to ensure there were no splits in the final cable. Throughout my time I was investigating a new way of cooling wire cables during the annealing process, and had an input into the research of a compressed nitrogen and hydrogen gas mixture to be used within an air blade curtain to be implemented into the factory in the future.
