Having an opportunity to be under Matt's leadership has been a truly worthwhile and fruitful experience for me. I have learned a lot of great things professionally under his wing during my stint as Corporate Accounts Manager. Matt has been very instrumental in driving my career at Fitness First Philippines. I respect him a lot for his high level of integrity, drive for self-improvement, giving honest and timely feedback, and determination to succeed. He is a true leader who inspires people and drives results out of them. A living example of a "One Minute Manager". My coach.

I can verify that Matthew Hoo has been employed with Fitness First since 2002 up until early this year March 2012. And in that time he has progressed to become a highly awarded and recognized leader within the company. I’ve known of Matthew since his time in Fitness First Australia. Whilst I didn’t work with him back then, I’d often hear others comment he was a top manager and even years after he transferred to Asia he was used as a ‘real-life success story’ within the Australian Fitness First Group. I had the privilege to first hand experience his leadership when he recruited me from Australia to assist in club operations with Fitness First Philippines. Matthew is well known in our business as a leader who can influence his staff in a positive fashion, get good results, and would always make sure to do the right thing by the members. No short cuts. In his 10 years of working Matthew become known as one of the top senior executives in Asia. He has been a key part to the development of the business and new clubs throughout Asia, namely, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. I would view his greatest strengths as: - His ability to deliver strong results without compromising integrity - Continuously improve the business performance and club operation efficiency - His passion for helping people. Many staff and members I know have praised his operating methods especially with creating advocacy through service. With Matthew pursuing his goal of being an entrepreneur in owning health clubs I have no doubt he will be successful and continue to raise the bar. wish all the best for you Matt!

Performance managed Club General Managers to achieve key revenue targets, cost initiatives, and service standards. Upon arrival in the Philippines I took under my wing 5 clubs performing with poor trends displaying YOY decline in most key metrics. Within 12 months all clubs surged significantly forward, and after 2 years they were ranked as many of the most successful in the country. A multitude of staff and departments within my Region dominated the yearly performance awards. Following the success of the first 12 months, I took on another 3 clubs all of which also demonstrated significant improvement. My staffing line comprised 230 employees and 30 Managers. I further developed selected staff to become Area Business Managers, Senior Managers and General Managers. I championed country sales initiatives and was accredited as a Master Trainer. I was also given the responsibility to develop a 3 day cross training sales induction course for the Company’s Asia wide rollout. SENIOR MANAGER DEVELOPMENT & PROGRESSION: Developed staff into the following Senior Management positions: 3x Club General Managers 2x Senior Club General Managers 2x Area Business Managers

Managed all aspects of the country sales business. All sales aspects of the 17 clubs, 33 managers, and 130 staff in Thailand were under my leadership. I was responsible for achieving revenue targets, conceptualizing marketing strategies, and direct hands-on support at club sites. I also led monthly sales strategies and performance-managed results. TURN AROUND AND REVITILIZATION: Led successful turnaround of new membership sales achieving the 2007/08 sales budget which had not occurred for the previous 3 years in Thailand. With the number of memberships sold exceeding 32,000. I also successfully led the membership pre-sale of 4 new opening clubs and relocated an existing branch to a more opportune area as a defensive manoeuvre versus competition. I was a significant contributor to the team that ultimately took Thailand from a struggling region, to becoming Asia's most consistently profitable.
