In this role, I was mployed as a field ecologist to conduct regional ecosystem mapping and bio-condition assessments. This included assisting with field work and data collection for a proposed gas development project within the Queensland brigalow belt bioregion by conducting a range of field activities including regional ecosystem mapping and bio-condition assessments of terrestrial, riparian, and wetland habitats In this role, I was mployed as a field ecologist to conduct regional ecosystem mapping and bio-condition assessments. In my most recent position, I have been employed as a Research Fellow at Griffith Universities, Australian Rivers Institute. Here, working in the Connolly lab, I was tasked with leading several research projects, such as leading a research project investigating fish community dynamics across different seagrass habitats in the GBR; writing a report investigating the long-term recovery of a semi-arid mangrove forest following an oil spill; and, the monitoring of a seagrass recovery project within the Gold Coast Broadwater. In this role I worked on a project investigating how mangrove poleward expansion into saltmarsh habitat is changing soil characteristics and rates of decomposition. I also led a project investigating foliar water uptake in arid zone coastal plants of Baja California Sur, Mexico. For this postdoctoral research position I was based in Fort Pierce, Florida USA. My research examined ecological and evolutionary processes at species range limits. Here, I was studying the effects of climate change, in particular decreased extreme freeze events, on mangrove northern range extension and the mechanisms underlying species interactions and distribution patterns at the mangrove-saltmarsh interface.
