As a Co-op student working at Magna Mirrors, I had a variety to tasks ranging from production support to assisting in new product (automotive exterior mirrors) launches by building prototype parts and validating assembly equipment. As I became more familiar with the products produced and to processes used to create them I was often called upon to give final visual inspection to pre-production parts being shipped to the customer. I was responsible for implementing new testing and documentation protocols for one of our mirror models, and have also helped to author a training program for our floor managers. Show less

    • Sheet Metal Welder & Bender
      • May 2011 - Aug 2011

When I started at Proos, I was a manual lather operator cutting simple plastic tube parts. After a few weeks, I became capable of operating the machine at its physical limits and turned out parts at a rate of 800 to 1000 parts per shift. At this rate I quickly ran the company out of material which had a 4 week lead time and was placed on a sheet metal brake press for a brief time until I could start my next assignment. I moved on to help assemble and mig weld large sheet metal cabinets. I did this til I left to return to school for the next semester in the fall. Show less

    • Cashier & Supervisor
      • Jan 2006 - Aug 2010

This was a first "real" job I had. I started as a grocery bagger at this store during the holidays when they needed additional help during holidays. I moved up into the grocery and produce department and helped to stock the grocery and produce shelves. When I turned 18 I was allowed to run the cash register as I could now sell Alcohol. I was a backup cashier from that point on until I left the store to attend college at GVSU. I also was placed in charge of a bratwurst and hotdog stand that the store ran for certain occasions. I was responsible for ordering and preparing all materials required for the events, setting up the stand, running the stand and cleanup. I ran the stand typically with two younger employees and held this responsibility until my resignation. Show less
