• SPEAR Peer Counselor

  Another role I play for SPEAR is that of a student peer counselor. I counsel upwards of 70 students, all stemming from a wide variety of backgrounds and underrepresented communities in higher education. As a peer counselor, I practice motivational interviewing with students, including those who are facing academic probation, or have even dismissed from the university, working with them toward readmission. I work for the academic and holistic well-being of each of my students, envisioning a community of self-aware and critically conscious students, able to pursue their goals without compromising their well-being. • SPEAR Mentorship Coordinator

  As SPEAR's Mentorship Coordinator, a lot of the work I perform revolves around connecting and building community among students from underrepresented backgrounds. With the various events and programming I direct throughout the year, approximately 200 undergraduate students have the chance to experience mentorship, networking, and holistic growth throughout their college experience. Such programming caters to the several student trends and community needs, which are consistently monitored and addressed on a biweekly basis. Whether it be cultural excursions, fitness competitions, student resource demonstrations, or community-building retreats, programming was always geared toward outcomes of academic empowerment and holistic development. Coordinating such an effort wouldn't be done without an invaluable team. Leading 12 other staff members, along with 15 volunteer staff members, my component managed an annually allocated budget upwards of $75,000. These funds were distributed among the other components & endeavors of the other coordinators on SPEAR, but the goal with any programming held the same: creating a self-sustaining community, comprised of empowered individuals who have the tools to create their own success, both at and beyond UCLA. • Samahang Pilipino Education and Retention (SPEAR) Administrative Assistant

  As the Administrative Assistant for SPEAR, I wrote curriculum catered to developing interns, helping them explore their Pilipinx identity, along with study retention and student activism. I also oversaw the growth of SPEAR's brand via multiple forms of social media: Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. In addition, I co-managed project expenditures, tracking money allocations for project events from an annual budget eclipsing $100,000. With such a large budget, I also upkept annual objective progress for this 12-person staff, which served several hundreds of UCLA students from underrepresented communities. Show less

  As a Space Inventory Assistant, I created, updated and corroborated floor plans for various campus buildings and facilities using AutoCAD software, most notably contributing to the floor plan revisions of UCLA's primary administration building, Murphy Hall. I also maintained a comprehensive database detailing UCLA on-campus, off-campus, and residential property info.   As a high school engineering intern for HDR, I was given the opportunity to assist in a wide variety of relevant project tasks, all of which were components to exciting projects going on in LA County. For one, I utilized a unique client of Google Earth and Microsoft Excel to perform utility studies and produce data reports of various development sites, which were used in multiple proposal versions of the California High-Speed Rail. My supervisors trained me to use both AutoCAD and Microstation, empowering me to produce feasible architectural reference drawings of my own. In addition, I also corroborated several HDR utility drawings of gas, electricity, and communication lines, which were instrumental in the perpetual effort to retrofit Long Beach's infrastructure.
