Matt is a person you can count on. He introduced us to rock-climbing as an instructor and now we’re hooked. He’s personable and professional. A clear communicator and trusted individual. He would make a positive addition to any organization.

At Golden Gate Orchids I have the pleasure of working with and learning from Tom Perlite. This is a volunteer position in which I work with Tom most Saturday mornings in the greenhouses for approximately 4 hours each week. We focus primarily on Vireya, Platycerium, and orchid species including Odontoglossum, Dendrobium, and Cattleya. While in the greenhouse, I work on pest management, propagation, irrigation, and transplantation. We have also briefly worked with Cycad and grass tree species as… Show more At Golden Gate Orchids I have the pleasure of working with and learning from Tom Perlite. I work on restoration sites in San Mateo, Marin, and the Presidio. My work includes integrated pest management in tandem with chemical and mechanical controls. A significant portion of my work includes monitoring and surveying for rare species including Mission Blue butterfly, CA red-legged frog, Hickman's Potentilla, and other plant species. I have helped plant more than 2000 native grasses and lupine in San Mateo, and manzanita in the Presidio. I have helped plant more than 2000 native grasses and lupine in San Mateo, and manzanita in the Presidio. I consistently push myself to be better at plant identification and am always expanding my ability to ID in the field. I usually work with a team of three and alone in the field. I have collected/entered data using Field maps, survey123, Avenza maps, Calflora, and spreadsheets. Show less I work on restoration sites in San Mateo, Marin, and the Presidio. While at SPAWN, I worked on and maintain a number of restoration sites around the San Geronimo watershed. This included but is not limited to project planning, removing invasive species, watering, working hands-on with salmonid species, and ensuring the productivity of each site. The overarching goal of this position is to enhance habitat for native salmonids, gather and analyze population estimates, and better understand their connections to the greater ecosystem.
