  Responsible for the promotion, development and quality assurance of classroom practice. Whole school literacy, line management of the Literacy department and the Learning Resource Centre ‘Critical friend’ to underperforming staff. Re-development of the academy marking and literacy policies - praised by Ofsted. Strong eye for data and use of key performance indicators to identify trends and introduce effective and timely intervention strategies. Liaised with SLT to develop, implement and monitor systems and procedures which raise the standard of teaching and thus, the achievement and progress of all pupils. Carried out formal monitoring of exemplar lesson plans, Performance Management observations, chaired Heads of Department meetings, trained and supported Heads of Zone to carry out learning walks and work samples and successfully coached and mentored colleagues failing to meet the teacher standards. Successfully coached a historically underperforming English teacher to move from ‘Unsatisfactory’ to ‘Good’ over a term. This was done through persistent positivity, warmth, patience and a clearly defined coaching model. I was praised by a senior HMI during a joint lesson observation for the accuracy of my judgments and my systematic approach. As part of a team of Directors, with SLT and the Academy Improvement Partner, I was involved in the strategic development and planning of INSET and CPD calendars which meet the needs of all colleagues and supported the foci of the Academy Development Plan. This involved regular reviews of the Academy SEF and the changing priorities of the Academy. I had sole responsibility for the strategic planning, evaluation and deployment of resources relating to the English Specialism to ensure that SSAT targets were met, managing a budget of £10,000.
