  Collaborate with electrical/systems engineers to design components for use in RF and millimeter wave systems. Design and optimize mechanical structures for ease of manufacturing and assembly in a production-level environment. Design custom tooling and fixtures as necessary for the assembly and/or testing process. Devise solutions for in-production units in the event(s) where problems occur such as mechanical assembly issues and incorrectly machined parts. Create mechanical drawings for fabrication in accordance with ASME Y14.5 - 2009. Utilize GD&T practices to ensure part functionality while reducing unnecessary machining costs. Simulate products using FEA techniques to ensure proper thermal and vibrational performance, particularly for use in space and military applications. Interface directly with customers/collaborators to ensure mechanical requirements of products are met as well as give regular status updates on ongoing projects. Notify them of any issues that arise and discuss potential solutions. Communicate with multiple departments (purchasing, planning, assembly, testing, machine shop) to ensure smooth progress for ongoing projects. Use SolidWorks PDM (Product Data Management) software to manage drawings. Process engineering change requests and control drawing revisions. Show less
