      When I began discussions with DI to join their team, we had many meetings about what position would make the most sense for both me and the company. After several meetings we realized that I wanted to be a part of DI and they wanted me to join as well. We just couldn't find a spot that fit my experience and their needs at the moment. So I joined DI at the ground level and worked with various departments to learn as much about their operations as possible. I helped in fabrication, technology, graphics and installation. After a few months of this, I was moved into the position of Project Engineer. This position quickly evolved into a hybrid position where I would estimate, engineer and then manage the production of projects. In some cases I would even go on-site and work with the install team at the projects final destination. As time went on I started doing more and more estimation work to the point that most of my day was spent in this capacity. After a time I started working directly with our VP of Estimation, Purchasing and Sales to help him in an official capacity as an estimator. Now after working with him for a few months, I am very happy to say that I am DI's first full time estimator. My responsibilities now include working with the design team to fully understand the design intent of a project, and taking that information to think through what we would need to do to build that design. I then estimate the time, materials, and process the job would go through to become a reality. Once we win the bid on a project, I then meet with the project team to explain how the job has been estimated to make sure what we engineer and build is the same as what we have estimated. It's a process that requires great attention to detail, knowledge of materials and an understanding of how to build a very wide variety of custom items. I greatly enjoy getting to think through so many facets of each project, and honored to work with such a talented team. Show less

Working with Artitalia Group was a great experience, I was able to learn a great deal of new skills and manufacturing methods while being a part of the team in Montreal. As a custom manufacturer of retail environments and fixtures, Artitalia was an excellent environment to learn the ins and outs of International Importing from China, major retail chain rollouts on a regular basis and picking up new skills in areas such as metal fabrication. These skills greatly added to my capabilities and have allowed me to expand my knowledge of the retail industry in a whole new way. Show less
