MDT Armor has taught me most about the draft restrictions, compliance, and tolerance issues that are often fraught in the custom “build-to-order” industry. My work is predominantly converting and recreating drawings and CAD between multiple drafting programs and assuring they are ISO compliant; including legacy drafts as they are revised to more modern standards. Converting and translating progenitor drafts has also driven me to create a concise and robust database that can handle the intricate correlated assemblies of a modular product; for ease of use now and to organize it for future ease of use for myself and my successors. Beyond these rewarding challenges, I have learned about ITAR complexities from dealing with international customers and our parent company. Show less

As a co-op at Donaldson Co., I predominantly worked on improving the inherent safety and ease of work for the production floor. I would map out the department I was working with, recreate the floor layout in CAD, simulate different machine and process locations/orientations, and then I’d direct and assist in reorganizing the department. While this was the fast-paced side of my work, I also converted drafts between media, assisted production on technical issues, and produced a floor layout from scratch for the 300’ by 500’ plant. Occasionally, I would also assist in the prototyping of new parts to be later integrated into main line production. Show less
